Solomon Asante’s journey in American soccer is entering a new chapter, with the USL icon stepping into coaching ahead of the 2026 season.

Texoma FC have confirmed the appointment of the 35-year-old Ghanaian as their new assistant coach, a move that signals the club’s intent to lean on experience as they prepare for the next campaign. Asante featured for the club in the recently concluded season, and his transition from the pitch to the technical area comes as little surprise given his stature and influence within the squad.

Widely regarded as one of the most accomplished players to grace the USL, Asante brings a profound understanding of the league and its demands. A former USL Player of the Year, he built a reputation for consistency, creativity, and leadership during a career that spanned multiple clubs and regions across the United States.

Texoma FC is happy to announce the addition of former USL Championship MVP and Texoma FC player Solomon Asante to the Texoma FC technical staff as an assistant coach.

Speaking after his appointment, Asante reflected on a career shaped by movement, learning, and connection through football.

“My life in soccer has taken me from Ghana, Congo, Arizona, Indiana, Nevada, and Texas. My career has taught me the technical nuances of the game and its power to unite. I am now eager to channel my experience into a coaching role, contributing as a dedicated mentor for this club,” said the ex-TP Mezembe star following his announcement as assistant coach.

At Texoma, Asante will work closely with head coach Ben Clarvis, who believes the former winger’s presence will significantly strengthen the club’s technical structure and dressing-room culture.

“We’re incredibly excited to welcome Solomon Asante back to Texoma FC in this new role,” said the head coach. “He’s a USL legend who brought professionalism, leadership, and a winning mentality every day as a player. His experience at the highest levels of the league and his understanding of what it takes to succeed will be invaluable to our locker room and staff. Having someone who knows the club and commands respect step into an assistant coaching role strengthens everything we’re building here.”

Asante’s playing résumé underlines why the club sees him as a valuable asset beyond his playing days. He represented Las Vegas Lights, Indy Eleven, and Phoenix Rising FC, amassing 205 USL appearances. Over that period, he contributed 57 goals and 63 assists, numbers that reflect both longevity and impact.
