Tanzanian giants Simba SC are on the verge of landing a major defensive reinforcement, with Asante Kotoko captain Ndongani Samba Gilbani edging closer to a switch to Dar es Salaam in the current transfer window.
Reports from Tanzanian outlet Many Sports Arena indicate that negotiations are at an advanced stage, with the Congolese centre-back poised to commit to a two-and-a-half-year contract, pending the completion of routine medical examinations.
Once the formalities are finalised, Samba is expected to make the trip to Tanzania to link up with Simba’s set-up and begin work with the technical team either in pre-season or ongoing camp activities.
The move is set to bring a significant financial boost to Asante Kotoko, who are projected to pocket between $100,000 and $150,000 from the transfer. This comes at a crucial time, as Samba’s current contract with the Ghanaian powerhouse is due to expire at the end of the season.
On the pitch, the 2025/26 campaign has further underlined Samba’s value. He has made 15 appearances in the Ghana Premier League, contributing two goals from defence, while also featuring four times in the CAF Confederation Cup. In continental action, he found the back of the net once before Kotoko’s elimination in the second preliminary round.
Since his arrival at the Porcupine Warriors, Samba has grown into a defensive leader and fan favourite. He has clocked 49 appearances across all competitions, registering three goals and one assist, while consistently anchoring the backline with authority and composure.
