Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo has unexpectedly exited Ghana’s camp in Seoul, ruling him out of Tuesday’s international friendly against South Korea.

The striker is said to have departed due to personal reasons, bringing an abrupt pause to his involvement in the Black Stars’ ongoing Asian tour.

Semenyo had worn the captain’s armband just days ago, leading a youthful and injury-depleted Ghana side in their 2–0 loss to Japan during the Kirin Challenge Cup. His departure adds to an already growing list of absentees, with established names such as Jordan Ayew, Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, and Alexander Djiku all unavailable for the trip.

The 25-year-old has evolved into a key component of Ghana’s setup, amassing 32 caps and three goals while offering relentless energy and versatility in attack. With him now out of the picture, Otto Addo must reorganize both his frontline and his leadership core ahead of a crucial test against the Taegeuk Warriors, a match designed to sharpen Ghana’s edge before the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers resume.

Semenyo is now expected to return to England to refocus on his club career at Bournemouth. His name continues to circulate in transfer discussions, with heavyweight sides such as Liverpool and Manchester City reportedly monitoring his progress.
