Spanish Segunda División outfit AD Ceuta FC have completed the signing of Ghanaian striker Samuel Obeng Gyabaa, adding a powerful presence to their attack as they prepare for their historic debut season in the country’s second tier.

The 27-year-old forward joins Ceuta as a free agent after parting ways with Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Athletic Club, where he gained invaluable experience, including a stint at the prestigious FIFA Club World Cup.

Though his time in North Africa was brief and challenging, Obeng’s tenacity, discipline, and professionalism ensured his reputation remained untarnished.

Born in Ghana but raised in Spain, Obeng embodies a blend of African athleticism and Spanish football culture. Standing out for his physicality, aerial dominance, and relentless pressing, he is widely recognised as a striker who thrives in tight spaces and unsettles defenders with his aggression and hunger for goals.

Ceuta’s coaching staff believe these qualities will be vital as the ‘Caballa’ embark on their maiden Segunda División campaign.

Obeng’s career has taken him through several respected Spanish sides, including Girona FC, Real Oviedo, SD Huesca, Calahorra, and Granollers, before his overseas adventure with Wydad. His return to familiar ground marks a fresh opportunity to reignite the form that made him a standout performer for Ghana’s U23 team during the 2019 CAF U23 Africa Cup of Nations.

Ceuta, buoyed by their meteoric rise through Spanish football, hailed the signing as a statement of intent. Club officials expressed their confidence that Obeng will quickly settle into the squad and earn the affection of fans eager to witness his trademark power and goal-scoring instincts.
