Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu has muscled his way into the UEFA Champions League Team of the Week after producing a commanding performance in Monaco’s narrow but hard-earned 1–0 victory over Galatasaray.
In a tense Matchday six showdown at the Stade Louis-II, the Black Stars centre-back was the calm in the storm, anchoring Monaco’s defence as they protected a slender lead secured by the USA striker Folarin Balogun, whose 68th-minute strike ultimately separated the sides.

Salisu was immense throughout the night, reading danger early, winning duels, and completely neutralising Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen, who spent most of the evening chasing shadows as the Ghanaian defender shut every door in his path. It was the sort of performance that doesn’t just turn heads, it snaps necks.
UEFA’s technical panel took notice, rewarding the 26-year-old with a spot in the prestigious Team of the Week and a solid 7.5 match rating.

It marks yet another step in Salisu’s resurgence at Monaco. After a tough spell last season under Adi Hütter, the former Southampton man has transformed himself into an indispensable pillar in Adi Hütter’s backline this term, starting five of Monaco’s six Champions League fixtures and tallying 15 appearances in all competitions, complemented by a goal.
