Coventry City boss Frank Lampard has been left anxiously awaiting medical feedback after talisman Brandon Thomas-Asante hobbled off during their thrilling 4-2 victory over Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

The in-form Ghanaian forward, who has been at the heart of Coventry’s promotion charge, lasted less than 30 minutes at the Riverside Stadium before clutching his hamstring and signalling for a substitution. Despite his premature exit, the Sky Blues produced an impressive attacking display to dismantle Boro on their own turf.

Lampard, while delighted with the result, admitted the injury cast a shadow over the evening’s success.

“It’s a hamstring. He said he didn’t feel like it was a major tear, but it tightened up on him. So, it was a good thing he came off. Obviously, it’s a concern for us, and we’ll have to see how he is,” the manager explained.

Thomas-Asante will undergo scans to determine the full extent of the damage, with Coventry hoping the issue is not serious enough to derail his exceptional season.

The Ghanaian striker has been nothing short of sensational in the Championship, emerging as the club’s top scorer and one of the league’s standout performers. His electric form in October, six goals, including two braces, earned him the Championship Player of the Month award and helped push Coventry to the summit heading into the last international break.

Now with 10 goals and three assists in 17 league outings, the 26-year-old has become the focal point of Coventry’s Premier League promotion ambitions. Any prolonged absence would be a major blow to Lampard’s side at a crucial stage of the campaign.

For now, all eyes remain on the scan results, and Coventry fans will be hoping their star man’s injury scare proves to be a minor setback rather than a season-defining blow.
