Promising defender Ibrahim Digberekou will spend the upcoming campaign in Belgium after sealing a loan switch to KSC Lokeren from German Bundesliga side Borussia Mönchengladbach, according to the official statement.

The 20-year-old, who was born in Belgium but is of Ghanaian descent, has agreed to a year-long stay with the Challenger Pro League club as he searches for consistent senior minutes. Lokeren confirmed the deal, emphasizing the youngster’s physical presence and technical calmness as qualities they believe will fortify their backline.

Digberekou has been nurtured within Gladbach’s youth setup and is widely regarded as one of their brightest defensive prospects. Earlier this summer, the German side underlined their trust in his long-term potential by tying him down to a fresh contract before approving his temporary move.

Comfortable both in central defence and at right-back, the towering youngster has already featured for Belgium’s U19s, but is still eligible to represent Ghana at senior level. His decision to test himself in Belgium’s second tier is seen as a crucial step in his growth, offering the exposure and responsibility that can elevate him from academy standout to professional mainstay.

Lokeren, who are targeting promotion this season, see Digberekou’s arrival as a statement addition. For the player, it is the chance to prove himself in a competitive league and potentially catch the eye of Ghana’s national selectors in the process.
