Accra Hearts of Oak have issued a strongly worded response to swirling reports about the contractual status of midfielder Hamza Issah, firmly maintaining that the player remains legally bound to the club.

In a statement released on 18 February 2026, the Ghanaian giants categorically refuted suggestions that Issah’s contract had been dissolved. The club stressed that no recognised legal or football authority has sanctioned any termination of the agreement.

According to the Phobians, there has been no determination from any competent judicial, regulatory, or arbitral institution, including the Ghana Football Association Player Status Committee or FIFA, confirming that the midfielder is free from his contractual obligations.

Hearts also pushed back against claims that they had consistently failed to meet their financial commitments to the player. The club insisted that there had been no persistent breach significant enough to justify unilateral termination under FIFA regulations.

They further disclosed that they held two separate meetings with Issah and his representatives in good faith in an attempt to resolve concerns raised during discussions.

Beyond contractual matters, Hearts criticised what they described as the unauthorised release of confidential correspondence, branding the development as both unprofessional and misleading.

The club did not stop there. In the same statement, Hearts accused South African outfit Siwele FC of improper conduct, alleging that the club engaged the player and facilitated travel arrangements without informing or securing consent from Hearts, despite the existence of a valid and active contract. The Phobians characterised the alleged actions as inducement and unlawful interference.

Determined to defend their position, Hearts confirmed that formal petitions have already been submitted to FIFA and other relevant authorities as they seek appropriate legal and regulatory redress.

The unfolding situation now sets the stage for a potentially significant ruling, as Hearts of Oak look to safeguard what they insist remains a binding agreement with one of their key midfield assets.
