As Ghana intensifies preparations for the highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup, a key partnership has emerged between the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Bryant University.

This collaboration is set to play a pivotal role in ensuring the Black Stars are well-prepared for the global spectacle.

On April 27, 2026, senior officials from Bryant University made a significant visit to the GFA headquarters in Accra. The delegation, led by William Smith, the Vice President for Athletics and Recreation at Bryant University, engaged in a series of strategic discussions with GFA leadership to finalize plans for the Black Stars’ base camp during the tournament.

General Secretary of the GFA, Prosper Harrison Addo, warmly welcomed the Bryant delegation, underscoring the importance of building international partnerships to enhance Ghana’s footballing success.

“We are committed to securing world-class facilities and support systems for our national team,” Addo said, highlighting the importance of such collaborations in achieving peak performance.

The primary focus of the meeting revolved around the logistics of the Black Stars’ stay in Rhode Island. Bryant University is poised to serve as the team’s official base camp, offering an array of elite facilities, including advanced training pitches, state-of-the-art recovery centers, and cutting-edge wellness infrastructure. These top-tier resources will ensure that Ghana’s players are in prime condition for the tournament.

Dr. Edi Tebaldi, Vice President for Strategy and Partnerships at Bryant University, and Liz Tanner, Executive Director of Ocean State, were among the key figures from the university who participated in the discussions. Alongside them were other Bryant officials, including those responsible for coordinating the logistical aspects of the partnership.

Representing the GFA were Janice Odonkor, the Head of Business Development, and Patrick Akoto, Senior Communication Manager and Media Attaché in the Office of the President. The collaborative spirit between the two organizations reflects a shared vision of ensuring Ghana’s success in the 2026 World Cup.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be held across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will be the largest in the history of the tournament. Scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19, the competition promises to be a monumental event in the world of football. Ghana will be competing in its fifth World Cup, with hopes of replicating its historic quarterfinal run in 2010.

As part of their group-stage fixtures, Ghana, placed in Group L, will face Panama on June 17 in Toronto, England on June 23 in Boston, and Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.

These matches represent the Black Stars’ chance to shine on the world’s biggest football stage once again, and with top-tier facilities in Rhode Island, the team will be well-positioned to reach new heights.
