Ghanaian forward Eugene Ansah continued his rich vein of form on Wednesday evening, firing SC Ashdod back into contention as they clawed their way from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 stalemate against Maccabi Netanya in the Israeli Premier League.

The in-form attacker, who has been a central figure for Ashdod all season, led the line in the Round 12 showdown at the Netanya Stadium and completed the full 90 minutes.

Netanya seized the initiative almost immediately. With barely four minutes gone, Oz Bilu pounced on a clever setup from Matheus Davo to give the hosts an early edge. The home side maintained their grip on the match and were rewarded again near the close of the first half when Davo calmly slotted home a penalty, sending Netanya into the break with a comfortable 2-0 cushion.

But the complexion of the contest changed entirely after half-time. Ashdod emerged revitalized, pressing higher and dictating the pace as Netanya struggled to regain their earlier command.

Their persistence finally broke through in the 73rd minute, when Eugene Ansah found the back of the net, sparking belief within the Ashdod ranks. The momentum swung firmly their way, and soon after, Nehoray Dabush rifled in the equalizer to complete a gutsy comeback.

Ansah’s strike takes his tally to seven goals and five assists in just 12 league matches, reinforcing his status as one of the standout performers in Israel’s top flight this season.
