Newly appointed Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has officially arrived in Ghana, marking the beginning of his tenure with the senior national team ahead of his formal unveiling.

The seasoned Portuguese manager landed in Accra on Wednesday evening, touching down at Kotoka International Airport, where he was received by officials. He is scheduled to spend the night in the capital before facing the media during a press conference set for Thursday afternoon at the Alisa Hotel.

Queiroz’s appointment was confirmed last week by the Ghana Football Association, following deliberations by its Executive Council in collaboration with key stakeholders. He steps into the role previously held by Otto Addo, ushering in a fresh chapter for the Black Stars.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United boss arrives with a wealth of international experience, having also managed national sides such as Portugal and Iran.

His immediate task will be to steer Ghana through preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Queiroz brings with him a strong track record on football’s biggest stage. He guided Portugal to the knockout rounds at the 2010 World Cup and later led Iran in both the 2014 and 2018 editions. His experience also includes involvement in World Cup qualification campaigns, further underlining his pedigree at an elite level.

While expectations naturally follow a coach of his stature, insiders suggest he will be given the space to settle and build as he begins shaping Ghana’s path toward the global tournament set for June.
