Majeed Ashimeru’s time at Anderlecht appears to be drawing to a close, with the Ghanaian midfielder edging closer to a switch to Belgian newcomers La Louvière as the January window gathers momentum.

According to Footy-Africa, the 28-year-old has been lined up for an exit after slipping down the pecking order in Brussels. Once seen as a key midfield piece, Ashimeru has found himself sidelined under head coach Besnik Hasi, prompting Anderlecht to place him on the list of players available for transfer.

The situation has been brewing for some time. Even before the current campaign got underway, the club had already signalled that the Ghana international was no longer central to their plans. Since then, he has spent most of the season turning out for Anderlecht’s U23 side in Belgium’s second tier, where he has been keeping match-fit and even managed to get on the scoresheet despite the reduced platform.

With Anderlecht now pushing to tidy up their squad during a hectic transfer window, Ashimeru’s future has become a priority. La Louvière, freshly promoted to the Belgian Pro League, have moved quickly and are confident they can wrap up a deal that would bring the experienced midfielder into their ranks.

The newly promoted side are fighting for their lives near the foot of the table, currently sitting 14th, and believe Ashimeru’s top-flight pedigree could be decisive in their battle to avoid the drop. Regular minutes and a leading role in midfield are on the table, exactly the fresh start the Ghanaian needs.

A graduate of WAFA SC in Ghana, Ashimeru joined Anderlecht in 2021 and is technically tied to the club until 2027. But with his influence in Brussels fading, a departure now looks inevitable. For the midfielder, a move to La Louvière could be the lifeline that helps him rediscover his rhythm, rebuild confidence and reassert his quality in Belgian football.
