Asante Kotoko are edging closer to securing the signature of FC Samartex 1996 attacker Emmanuel Mamah, with the Kumasi-based giants understood to have taken a significant lead in the race for the highly-rated youngster, multiple reports have indicated.

The Porcupine Warriors have made considerable headway in negotiations for the 21-year-old and are now increasingly confident of completing a deal in the coming days, barring an unexpected late twist.

Mamah’s performances in the Ghana Premier League have placed him firmly on the radar of several clubs, both at home and abroad. His emergence as one of Samartex’s most influential attacking players has sparked a growing transfer battle for his services.

Among those to show interest are Austrian club Admiral Wacker, Spanish second-tier side AD Ceuta, Hearts of Oak and FC AshantiGold 04. Despite the competition, Kotoko have reportedly moved further than their rivals in discussions.

The forward has steadily built a reputation as a dependable goal scorer in Ghana’s top flight, registering 20 goals across 79 league appearances for Samartex.

His experience extends beyond domestic football, having featured in the CAF Champions League and scored once in three appearances in the continental competition.

Mamah was again an important figure for Samartex during the 2025-26 campaign, finding the net seven times in 21 league outings.

Kotoko’s pursuit of the attacker forms part of their broader effort to assemble a squad capable of competing at the highest level while also investing in emerging Ghanaian talent.

The club reportedly see Mamah as a player who can contribute immediately but also develop into an even more valuable asset with greater exposure and experience.

With negotiations already at an advanced stage, the Porcupine Warriors appear to have put themselves in pole position, and Mamah could be unveiled as a Kotoko player in the days ahead if no late intervention derails the move.
