Brandon Thomas-Asante has reflected on a testing first year at Coventry City, admitting that injury troubles held him back as he adapted to life with the Sky Blues.
The Ghanaian striker, who joined Coventry last summer, endured a stop-start debut campaign, finding the net six times across 43 appearances in all competitions. Now fully fit, the 25-year-old has wasted no time showcasing his sharpness this season, striking twice in his opening three Championship fixtures.
“As a striker, getting in the right positions is important as well, and I’m grateful to the staff,” Thomas-Asante said to the club.
“Last year, I was sort of trying to play on a bit of an injury and I ended up being out for a little while, so to feel good in my body, I’m grateful that over the offseason, I could rest and get back to a state I’m happy with,” he added.
Coventry travel to Oxford United this weekend knowing a win could lift them from fourth to top spot, and Thomas-Asante is eager to continue his scoring form at the Kassam Stadium.
Despite his explosive start to the season, the former West Bromwich Albion forward has not been included in Ghana’s squad for September’s World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali.
