Promising Ghanaian striker Daniel Adu-Adjei has sealed a permanent move to Croatian top-flight side HNK Rijeka, penning a four-year contract after leaving English Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth.
The 19-year-old forward, who has been one of the brightest products of Bournemouth’s academy system, makes the switch in pursuit of consistent first-team football and further development at senior level.

Adu-Adjei’s rise at the Cherries was underlined by a remarkable 2024/25 season with the Development Squad, where he scored an astonishing 25 goals in just 16 appearances. His prolific form quickly pushed him into the senior setup, where he featured in pre-season and caught the eye with a well-taken strike against Everton during the Premier League Summer Series.
Despite his talent, opportunities in Bournemouth’s senior side were expected to be limited in the immediate future, prompting the teenager to look abroad. Rijeka, a club renowned for its competitiveness in Croatia and consistent involvement in European competitions, provides Adu-Adjei with a platform to sharpen his skills and gain top-flight experience.
The Croatian league has become a proven springboard for emerging talents seeking to establish themselves before moving to bigger European stages, and Adu-Adjei’s decision is seen as a calculated step in his career trajectory.
Back home, his transfer has sparked interest among Ghanaian football enthusiasts, with many tipping him as a future Black Stars prospect. Known for his blistering pace, composure in front of goal, and sharp finishing instincts, Adu-Adjei will now aim to make his mark in the HNL and prove himself at the highest level.
If he adapts quickly and continues his impressive form, Rijeka could not only benefit from his goals but also help shape the next Ghanaian striker to rise on the international scene.
