Asante Kotoko have received a major boost following confirmation that deputy captain Lord Amoah has come through surgery successfully after a season-ending knee injury.

The dynamic right-back was forced into an early spell on the sidelines in March after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament during a Ghana Premier League Matchday 23 fixture against Young Apostles. Despite losing one of their most influential players in that encounter, Kotoko still managed to secure a convincing 2-0 victory away from home.

Now, there is renewed optimism within the club after the procedure to repair the ligament went according to plan. Amoah is set to immediately transition into a carefully structured rehabilitation programme, where he will work closely with the club’s medical department to regain full fitness.

“Lord Amoah has undergone a successful surgery to repair his anterior cruciate ligament, an injury he sustained during our Premier League match against Young Apostles. The right-back will now begin his recovery and rehab at the club with support from our medical staff,” the club announced.

The setback represents a tough interruption for both player and team. Amoah had grown into a pivotal figure for the Porcupine Warriors, delivering consistently powerful performances and even attracting attention as a potential candidate for a national team call-up.

Since his move from Berekum Chelsea in mid-2024, the defender has evolved into one of Kotoko’s standout performers. Over the course of the current campaign, he featured in 23 matches across competitions and remarkably contributed nine goals, an outstanding tally for a player in his position.

Although his absence leaves a noticeable gap in the squad, the successful surgery offers hope that Amoah can return stronger.

For now, the focus shifts entirely to recovery, with both club and player determined to ensure he makes a full and impactful comeback.
