Antoine Semenyo was all smiles after delivering another standout moment in Manchester City’s ruthless 4–0 dismantling of Liverpool in their FA Cup quarter-final showdown.
The Ghanaian forward, who has hit the ground running since his high-profile January arrival, played a pivotal role in a performance that underlined City’s growing momentum at a critical stage of the campaign.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the April 4 clash, Semenyo summed up the mood in the camp: “Feels amazing. The team played really well today.”

City were relentless from the outset, with Erling Haaland stealing headlines courtesy of a clinical hat-trick. But Semenyo’s contribution was equally telling. Early in the second half, he calmly slotted home City’s third goal after being teed up by Rayan Cherki, effectively putting the contest beyond Liverpool’s reach.
At the other end, James Trafford produced a crucial penalty save, ensuring City’s dominance translated into a clean sheet to match their attacking brilliance.
Semenyo pointed to continuity and focus as the driving forces behind the commanding display, revealing that the squad had deliberately built on the energy from their recent cup success:
“We wanted to continue from the Carabao Cup final, and we carried on today. We said from the final once we are back we wanted to score goals, defend as a team, and we did that perfectly today.”

Since swapping AFC Bournemouth for City in a £64 million deal earlier this year, the 26-year-old has rapidly become a central figure in Pep Guardiola’s attacking setup. His strike against Liverpool marked his 18th goal of the season in all competitions, further evidence of his seamless adaptation.
With City still chasing honours on several fronts, Semenyo’s sharpness in front of goal and growing influence could prove decisive as the season heads into its defining weeks.
