Newly switched Ghana international Marvin Senaya has shared his excitement after linking up with the Black Stars for the first time ahead of Friday’s international friendly against Austria.
The AJ Auxerre defender took to X to capture the moment, posting:
“First steps. Thanks, God,” a message that reflects both gratitude and pride as he begins his journey with the senior national team.

Senaya’s arrival in Vienna represents a defining chapter in his career, following a prolonged and closely watched nationality decision between Ghana and Togo. Eligible for both nations, the 25-year-old ultimately chose to commit to Ghana, aligning with his maternal roots after sustained efforts from Ghana’s football authorities to secure his services.
He is the son of former Togolese international Yao Mawuko Senaya, making his decision all the more notable given his family ties.
However, any lingering uncertainty over his international allegiance has now been firmly put to rest with his presence in camp.
Having joined his teammates earlier this week, Senaya is now part of the squad preparing for a high-profile friendly against Austria, with another demanding test lined up against Germany in Stuttgart on March 30.

On the club front, the defender has been a regular figure for AJ Auxerre this season, registering 20 appearances and finding the net once, form that has earned him this long-awaited opportunity on the international stage.
His social media message underscores a player embracing a proud milestone, as he sets out to make a strong impression in Ghana colours during these crucial World Cup build-up fixtures.
