Antoine Semenyo has been crowned the February Player of the Month in the Premier League, capping off a sensational opening chapter to his spell with Manchester City after completing a January switch from AFC Bournemouth.

The Ghana international wasted little time making his mark at the Etihad Stadium, producing a string of influential performances throughout February. Over five league appearances, some delivered three goals and one assist, with his strikes coming against Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham F.C. and Leeds United.

His instant impact has quickly endeared him to City supporters and strengthened his role in the attacking setup under manager Pep Guardiola.

“This is a brilliant moment for me. To win the Premier League Player of the Month award so soon after joining City is something I’ll never forget,” Semenyo said on Man City’s official website.

“My focus now is on continuing to improve and helping City to achieve the best possible results. We have so much to play for, and I am really excited about this final period of the season.”

One of the most striking aspects of Semenyo’s early performances has been his adaptability. The 25-year-old has been deployed in multiple attacking roles, featuring effectively on both flanks, through the middle, and even dropping deeper into midfield when required. That flexibility has given City an extra dimension in the final third as they push for silverware in the closing months of the campaign.

His triumph also ends a long run of dominance within the club’s squad. Since December 2021, the monthly honour for a City player had been monopolised by Erling Haaland, who has claimed the award four times this season alone, while the last different City winner before Semenyo was Raheem Sterling.

Semenyo emerged from a competitive shortlist of standout performers across the league, beating nominees including Viktor Gyökeres of Arsenal F.C., City teammate Nico O’Reilly, Dango Ouattara of Brentford F.C., Benjamin Šeško of Manchester United and Virgil van Dijk from Liverpool F.C..

With the season approaching its decisive stretch, Semenyo will now look to maintain his impressive form and continue influencing City’s charge on multiple fronts as anticipation grows over just how far the Ghanaian forward can go in his debut campaign with the reigning champions.
