Nashville SC have bolstered their midfield ranks with the acquisition of Ghanaian playmaker Shakur Mohammed, completing a deal that will see the highly rated youngster join the club ahead of the 2026 Major League Soccer season.

The 22-year-old has committed his future to the Tennessee-based side on a contract that runs through the 2026 campaign, with additional club options covering the 2027 and 2027/28 seasons. Nashville finalized the move by exercising the Right of First Refusal (ROFR) previously held by Orlando City SC.

As part of the agreement, Orlando will receive Nashville’s natural third-round selection in the 2027 MLS SuperDraft.

Nashville SC President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Mike Jacobs expressed strong belief in Mohammed’s upside, saying:

“Shak is a talented attacking player who has been a bright prospect in college and in MLS NEXT Pro, and we are excited to see him continue to grow into his potential with us here in Nashville.”

Mohammed arrives with an impressive developmental résumé. During his time with Orlando City’s MLS NEXT Pro side, he emerged as a consistent attacking threat, scoring 28 goals and registering six assists across 79 appearances. His performances earned him opportunities at senior level, where he featured five times for Orlando City’s first team.

A product of the prestigious Right to Dream Academy, Mohammed relocated to the United States in 2018 to further his football journey. He went on to gain experience with Black Rock FC, Blue Devils, and Manhattan, steadily building his reputation as a dynamic and intelligent midfielder.

His rise culminated in Orlando City selecting him as the second overall pick in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft, underlining the high regard in which he has long been held within American soccer circles.

Now, with a fresh chapter set to begin in Nashville, Mohammed will be looking to translate his proven promise into top-flight impact as he continues his growth in Major League Soccer.
