Ghanaian international and attacking midfielder Bernard Mensah is on the verge of sealing a move to Iranian giants Esteghlal FC, with talks said to be at an advanced stage, as per Africafoot‘s sources.
Apparently, both parties are locked in intense negotiations, ironing out key details such as salary structure and specific contractual guarantees. The proposed deal is understood to be a two-year contract with an option for renewal, signalling Esteghlal’s intent to secure Mensah’s services for the long term.
Mensah, 30, is currently a free agent after most recently featuring for Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Riyadh SC, where he played 30 matches last season. His career has also seen him turn out for Al Tai in Saudi Arabia, Turkish clubs Kayserispor, Besiktas and Kasimpasa, Spanish La Liga side Getafe, and Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes, where he rose through the youth ranks before making his senior debut.

Known for his vision, technical quality, and leadership in midfield, Mensah, whose transfermarkt valuation is estimated at €2.5 million, has been attracting interest from several clubs across Asia and the Middle East. Esteghlal, however, appears to be in pole position to secure his signature.
Meanwhile, at the international stage, Mensah had featured four times at the senior national team of Ghana, The Black Stars. However, his last minutes in the shirt came in 2020, as Ghana lost 3-0 to Mali in an international friendly bout.
