Massively talented Ghanaian defender Stephen Acquah has secured his future at Danish topflight side FC Nordsjaelland after signing a contract extension that will keep him at the club until 2030.

The Right to Dream Academy graduate has been rewarded for his rapid rise with a new long-term deal, just 18 months after making the move from the renowned Ghanaian academy to the Danish outfit.

Since arriving in Denmark, Acquah has grown into an important member of the first-team setup. The teenage defender has already clocked 22 appearances across all competitions, underlining the trust placed in him by the club’s technical team despite his tender age.

Expressing his delight after committing his future, Acquah described the extension as a proud milestone in his young career.

“I am happy that I have now extended my contract with FC Nordsjælland, because it is something I have worked hard for. I was very proud when I made my debut in the Superliga, and now I am just looking forward to the future,” he said.

Tall, composed and technically assured, the centre-back is widely tipped to follow the pathway carved out by Ghanaian stars such as Mohammed Kudus and Ernest Nuamah, both of whom refined their talents at FC Nordsjaelland before earning high-profile moves.

Nordsjaelland’s Football Director, Alexander Riget, was full of praise for Acquah’s development and versatility. He noted that the defender has made significant strides over the past year and has shown he is ready to compete consistently at Superliga level.

“Stephen has developed a lot over the past year, and the autumn matches have shown that he is ready to fight for minutes in the Super League. He has strong physical potential, handles one-on-one duels well, and brings a calm presence on the ball,” Riget explained.

He added that Acquah’s ability to operate in multiple positions enhances his value to the squad. “Although we primarily see him as a centre-back, he can also play at right-back. We are very pleased to have extended his contract so he can continue his development with us, and together we have laid out a solid plan for his future.”
