Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has all but acknowledged the growing uncertainty surrounding the future of Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo, as speculation intensifies ahead of the January transfer window.

Semenyo has been one of the Premier League’s standout performers this season and continues to be central to Bournemouth’s attacking threat. The 25-year-old was once again on the scoresheet on Saturday afternoon, netting his eighth league goal of the campaign to earn the Cherries a 1-1 draw against Burnley.

His consistent displays have not gone unnoticed. With the winter window just days away, Semenyo is reportedly protected by a £65 million release clause, a figure that has placed several European heavyweights on high alert. Manchester City and Liverpool are believed to be monitoring the situation closely and could be prepared to spend heavily to secure his services.

Speaking after the Burnley stalemate, Iraola stopped short of confirming any imminent departure but did little to dampen the speculation, openly admitting the forward’s importance to his side.

“He is a massive player for us,” the Cherries boss told the BBC after the 1-1 draw with Burnley. “It is not a big secret.”

While questions over Semenyo’s future dominated the post-match discussion, Iraola also turned his attention to Bournemouth’s missed opportunity to claim maximum points against a struggling Burnley side.

The Spanish tactician felt his team did enough to win the contest but was left frustrated by their inability to convert dominance into victory.

“We were feeling like we were having the best chances but we didn’t kill it. We are conceding a lot of set plays and it is a big punishment for us. We deserved to win,” he added.

As January approaches, Bournemouth now face a delicate balancing act, maximising results on the pitch while potentially preparing for life without one of their most influential players.
