Ghanaian winger Albert Adomah has added another remarkable chapter to his long and distinguished English Football League career, reaching the 700-game mark in EFL competition.

The veteran forward achieved the feat in storybook fashion, turning out for Walsall on his 38th birthday in their 1-1 League Two draw with Shrewsbury. While Adomah had technically crossed the 700-appearance threshold earlier in September 2024 when all competitions were considered, Saturday’s outing officially sealed the milestone based strictly on EFL league matches.

Adomah’s longevity in English football is reflected in his extraordinary numbers. Over the years, he has featured 526 times in the Championship and added a further 174 appearances in League Two. Across those games, the former Ghana international has registered 95 goals and provided 101 assists, underlining his consistency and attacking influence across nearly two decades.

Speaking after the match, Adomah expressed pride at the achievement, made even more special by the timing.

“That’s another milestone. 700 EFL games, I am assuming that’s just league games. That is amazing, and it happens to be on my birthday, that’s a nice touch and that’s another milestone to celebrate,” he said after the game.

Throughout his career, Adomah has been a familiar figure in England’s football pyramid, representing several clubs including Middlesbrough and Aston Villa, where his pace, experience and professionalism made him a valuable asset.

At Walsall, his influence extends beyond the pitch, a fact not lost on head coach Mat Sadler, who was full of praise for the evergreen winger.

“Happy birthday to him, he’s the youngest 38-year-old I know,” he said. “He’s an amazing person, and he had that chance where he flashed it across to Courtney. That’s the moments that were in the game, we just didn’t quite have that cutting edge at the final moment, and sometimes that is understandable with the amount of games we’ve had recently. For now, we have to rest up, look after the lads for a few days and then go again in what has the makings of a very good game this Saturday now.”

Thank you! 🙏🏿❤️🙏🏿 https://t.co/XD4r82mCoW

As Adomah continues to defy age and expectation, his 700 EFL appearances stand as a powerful testament to endurance, professionalism and sustained excellence in one of the world’s most demanding football environments.
