NAC Breda have moved decisively to shore up their depleted backline, sealing the signing of experienced Ghanaian defender Denis Odoi in a deal that runs until the end of the campaign, with an option to extend for an extra year.
The 37-year-old arrives as a free agent at a time when NAC’s defensive department has been ravaged by injuries, offering not just cover but an immediate injection of resilience and leadership. His addition also reunites him with compatriot Kamal Sowah, rekindling a partnership that previously flourished during their stint in Belgium.

Technical director Peter Maas emphasised that Odoi’s arrival is part of a broader strategy to stabilise the squad and prepare for the crucial months ahead:
“Apart from the current wave of defensive injuries, we are already preparing for the upcoming winter transfer window with this signing. We know Denis from his past, but we also followed him in his last season at Royal Antwerp FC. His drive and passion remain strong. In the fight to stay in the Eredivisie, we are adding an extra fighter to the squad. He is fit and motivated to play for NAC.”
Odoi’s résumé speaks for itself: spells at Club Brugge and Royal Antwerp, a wealth of European competition exposure, plus more than 170 matches for Fulham across the Premier League and Championship. His vast experience and competitive edge are expected to be pivotal as NAC Breda battle to protect their Eredivisie status.
With survival on the line, NAC have opted for proven steel, and in Denis Odoi, they believe they’ve found exactly that.
