VfB Stuttgart have made it clear that Justin Diehl will not be leaving the club when the transfer window reopens in January. The Bundesliga outfit remain committed to the 20-year-old winger despite his challenging start to life in Stuttgart.

Diehl, who was born in Germany but represents Ghana, made the switch from FC Köln in 2024. His spell in Stuttgart has been disrupted by persistent injuries, limiting his chances to fully showcase the talent that made him one of the most exciting prospects in German football.

But inside the club, belief in his potential has never wavered. Sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth, speaking to BILD, dismissed any suggestion that Diehl could be allowed to depart mid-season.

“We currently have no plans to let him go in the winter,” he stated, closing the door on transfer speculation.

Justin Diehl sidelined again after fresh ankle injury

Wohlgemuth went on to highlight both the challenges Diehl has faced and the attributes that convinced Stuttgart to secure his signature.

“Justin hasn’t had an easy time with us so far, due to the setbacks he’s had to endure from various injuries. Nevertheless, he has more than hinted at why we were so keen to sign him back then. He’s technically gifted, possesses tremendous pace, and has the drive to constantly improve.”

He added that the club remains optimistic about Diehl’s long-term future.

“Justin is also an absolutely positive guy, and I am very confident that he can stabilise and become a key player,” Stuttgart’s sporting director said.

After recovering from a ligament injury, Diehl resumed full training on Monday. If all goes well, he could feature in Stuttgart’s squad for their Bundesliga showdown with Borussia Dortmund on Saturday, November 22.
