Ghanaian forward Brandon Thomas-Asante once again proved his class on Tuesday night, firing a superb brace to hand Coventry City a crucial 2-1 victory over Portsmouth in the English Championship.
The in-form Black Stars attacker has been a revelation this season, emerging as one of Coventry’s most consistent performers under manager Frank Lampard. His sharpness and composure in front of goal have made him a constant threat to opposition defenders.
Thomas-Asante, who has earned the full confidence of Lampard, led the attack once again at Fratton Park, and he didn’t disappoint. The 25-year-old broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark after linking up brilliantly with strike partner Ellis Simms to give the visitors a deserved first-half lead.

After the restart, the Ghanaian forward doubled his tally in the 56th minute, once again finishing off another clever assist from Simms to put Coventry firmly in control. Portsmouth pulled one back through Makenzie Kirk deep into stoppage time, but it proved too little too late as Coventry held on for a valuable away win.
Thomas-Asante’s double takes his tally to eight goals in 11 league appearances this campaign, an impressive return that underlines his growing importance in Coventry’s push for Premier League promotion.
His blistering form continues to fuel the Sky Blues’ ambitions, and with performances like this, Brandon Thomas-Asante is fast becoming one of the Championship’s standout forwards.
