Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has declared his firm belief that the Black Stars can go all the way at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the team’s qualification as a launchpad for something historic.

Ghana booked their ticket to next year’s global showpiece after edging Comoros 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium, a result that sealed top spot in Group I with an impressive 25 points. The victory confirmed Ghana’s fifth appearance on football’s grandest stage and reignited dreams of global glory.

Speaking to GHOne TV following the qualification triumph, Adams, who also represents the Buem Constituency in Parliament, expressed optimism that Ghana’s golden generation could emulate, or even surpass, the continent’s best-ever World Cup performances.

“I see the 2026 World Cup as an African World Cup, and Ghana is poised to win,” he said confidently.

Ghana’s deepest run at the tournament came in 2010, when the Black Stars were just a penalty away from a historic semifinal berth in South Africa. Since then, no African side had gone further until Morocco’s remarkable semifinal finish at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, a milestone that Adams believes has inspired a new wave of African ambition.

With qualification now secured, attention turns to the group stage draw on December 5, where Ghana will learn their opponents for a tournament that promises to be one of the most competitive and groundbreaking in history, spread across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
