Black Stars skipper Jordan Ayew believes Ghana’s emphatic triumph over the Central African Republic was inevitable, describing the team’s performance as one that no opponent could have withstood.

Ghana delivered a scintillating display on Wednesday afternoon, dismantling CAR 5–0 in Meknès during the Matchday 9 fixture of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers.

Goals from Mohammed Salisu, Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, Alexander Djiku, and Kamaldeen Sulemana capped a commanding showing that pushed the Black Stars to 22 points, keeping them firmly in control of Group I and within touching distance of a fifth World Cup appearance.

Reflecting on the result, Ayew, who once again led by example, credited the side’s fierce mentality and unity for the dominant win.

“With the determination and motivation we had today, whoever was on the pitch against us would’ve lost. From the first minute, we were at it,” Ayew said to the press.

“When we scored the first goal, we were all happy, united, and playing as brothers — and this is what I want to see. If we keep this commitment and attitude, no one can stop us.”

The victory not only underscored Ghana’s resurgence under coach Otto Addo but also highlighted the renewed chemistry within the camp. With confidence soaring and qualification nearly secured, the Black Stars now set their sights on the Comoros, whom they face on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

A win there will officially book Ghana’s ticket to North America 2026, sealing a return to the world’s biggest stage.
