Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has applauded the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the manner in which it has handled discussions surrounding the Black Stars’ financial demands for next month’s World Cup qualifiers.

With the proposed budget now awaiting sign-off from the Presidency, Adams credited the FA for ensuring that the process was both collaborative and transparent.

“I want to take this opportunity to sincerely appreciate the GFA for their cooperation and the maturity shown throughout this process. These engagements are often technical and time-sensitive, and the posture of the Association throughout has reflected a shared commitment to proper governance and accountability,” the Minister said.

Sports Ministry submits $1.12m Black Stars budget for October qualifiers

The GFA officially tabled its financial plan on September 18, pegged at $1.12 million. The package is expected to cover every element of the national team’s build-up and execution of their October fixtures, including travel, lodging, training sessions, per diems, bonuses, and other crucial logistics.

Ghana’s campaign resumes with two pivotal clashes, an away meeting with the Central African Republic on October 8, followed by a home showdown with the Comoros on October 12. The Black Stars require at least four points from those encounters to stay firmly in the qualification race, making swift approval of funds vital for seamless preparations.
