Ghana’s Lawrence Ati-Zigi has etched another milestone into his club career after clocking his 200th appearance in the Swiss Super League for St. Gallen over the weekend.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper was between the sticks at the Kybunpark on Saturday, where St. Gallen edged past FC Lugano with a slender 1-0 victory in Matchday 6 of the campaign.

Ati-Zigi was central to the triumph, producing a composed display and sealing a clean sheet to protect Carlo Boukhalfa’s decisive first-half strike. His calm presence and assured handling ensured the three points stayed in St. Gallen, further underlining his value to the side.

Since arriving at the club in January 2020, the Black Stars goalkeeper has grown into one of St. Gallen’s most dependable figures. Across his 200 league outings, he has recorded 39 clean sheets and faced 294 goals, a testament to his consistency and resilience.

Earlier this year, Ati-Zigi reaffirmed his commitment to the Swiss outfit by extending his contract through to the summer of 2027, cementing his long-term future at the club.

While his starting berth with the Ghana national team has recently been contested by Hearts of Oak’s Benjamin Asare, Ati-Zigi continues to command the number-one spot at St. Gallen. This season, he has featured three times in the league, conceding only twice while already chalking up a shutout.

For a goalkeeper who has quietly built his career step by step, Saturday’s landmark was more than just a number, it was another reminder of the vital role he plays for St. Gallen’s ambitions.
