Moldovan powerhouse Sheriff Tiraspol have bolstered their defensive ranks with the acquisition of highly-rated Ghanaian youngster Riis Opoku Agyemang.
The promising 19-year-old has inked a deal with the reigning Divizia Națională champions, making the switch from Aduana Stars after an impressive campaign in the Ghana Premier League.
Opoku Agyemang touched down in Tiraspol earlier this week, where he is poised to embark on his first professional adventure abroad. He is widely regarded as a direct replacement for compatriot Nana Kwame Boakye, who sealed a summer move to Norwegian outfit SK Brann.
The Moldovan giants officially unveiled their latest recruit with glowing remarks:
“Welcome, Riis. Another newcomer to FC Sheriff is Ghanaian defender Riis Twumasi Opoku. The 19-year-old player has signed an employment contract. Rees was born in Kumasi, Ghana’s second-largest city. He gained his first professional experience last season at Berekum Chelsea, from where he moved to two-time Ghanaian champions FC Aduana Stars,” the club stated.
Sheriff fans may not have long to wait to see their new signing in action, with Opoku Agyemang expected to make his debut against Petrocub on Sunday, September 14.
