Rising Ghanaian winger Blessing Asumang Dankwah has voiced his excitement after signing a long-term contract with Swedish Allsvenskan club GAIS, marking a significant step forward in his European football journey.
The 21-year-old attacker, who spent the first half of the year on loan at Superettan outfit Örebro SK, put pen to paper on a five-year deal with GAIS, officially joining the club in the 2026 summer transfer window.
Reflecting on his progress in Sweden so far, Dankwah admitted the move felt like a well-earned reward for his performances, as quoted by the club.
“It feels great! I’ve been in ÖSK for six months so far, but it feels good to make this move after the season. This is my first year as a football player in Europe, and it feels great to get the chance in an Allsvenskan team. It must mean I’ve done something good!” he noted.
While at Örebro SK, Dankwah featured in 15 matches and registered a goal for the struggling second-tier side, showcasing flashes of his attacking prowess.
A product of Ghana Premier League club Accra Lions, Dankwah had already made a name for himself back home, tallying five goals and two assists in 31 league appearances before heading abroad.

The dynamic winger describes himself as a player who thrives on speed and one-on-one battles.
“I am very mobile and fast, I like to run! But I also think I am good at duels, I like to take on an opposing player,” he said, highlighting the attributes that make him a threat on the flanks.
GAIS’s Technical Director, Magnus Sköldmark, praised the signing, describing Dankwah as a talent with great potential.
“We are happy to introduce Blessing Asumang Dankwah to all Gaisa fans. He has exciting qualities that we have identified. It will certainly take some time for him to acclimatize in our environment, as for most players who come to us. We see strong potential in him! The fact that he already plays in Swedish football is of course an advantage,” he said.
With his pace, flair, and hunger to prove himself at the highest level of Swedish football, Dankwah’s arrival is expected to inject fresh energy into GAIS’s attack as the club continues to build for the future.
