After signing the deal, VfL Bochum Sporting Director Dirk Dufner spoke highly of the qualities Alfa-Ruprecht brings to the pitch.
“Farid is a highly qualified young player with real pace; his dynamism is exceptional. He will take Sammy Bamba’s place in our squad, meaning we have a quality player in that position again in attack,” he stated.
Alfa-Ruprecht himself stressed his readiness for a new challenge in the second-tier German division during the upcoming campaign.
“I’m delighted that the move to VfL has materialized. It will be the next step for me; the 2. Bundesliga is tough competition,” he added.
The German U18 international (four appearances, one goal) has been trained at Manchester City in recent years.
The Alfa-Ruprecht’s fledgling career began in his hometown of Hamburg, where he played for Hamburger SV from 2017 to 2022. He then moved to Manchester City’s youth academy, where he won the English U18 Championship (2022/23) and Youth Cup Winner’s Cup (U18, 2023/24).
In Premier League 2, he scored eight goals and provided three assists in 16 appearances. Bayer 04 Leverkusen secured the services of the speedy winger this season, giving him a contract until 2030. At VfL, Farid Alfa-Ruprecht will wear the number 29.
