Ghanaian-American centre-back Kelvin Lamptey-Mills has taken the next step in his fledgling career after completing a move to Spanish outfit FC Cartagena.
The 20-year-old defender joins Cartagena from Greek side Kabaniakos without a transfer fee and has put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the club until 30 June 2028.
Lamptey-Mills arrives as Cartagena strengthen their defensive options ahead of the 2026-27 Primera Federación campaign, with the Spanish club set to compete in Group II.
The Accra-born defender makes the switch to Spain after a brief stint in Greek football, where he spent the second half of the 2025-26 season with Kabaniakos. He joined the Greek club in January 2026 following a spell away from competitive football.
Before Kabaniakos, Lamptey-Mills had been on the books of MEAP Nisou, whom he joined in January 2025 from Kalonji SA. He subsequently departed MEAP in July of the same year.
His senior record remains relatively limited, with his documented competitive involvement in Greece including a four-minute appearance in the Super League 2 play-out competition. He was also registered for the Greek second tier and its relegation phase during the 2025-26 campaign.
At 1.89 metres, Lamptey-Mills offers Cartagena considerable physical presence at the heart of defence. The right-footed youngster is primarily deployed as a centre-back and possesses dual Ghanaian and American nationality.
His arrival in Cartagena also marks his first recorded move to Spanish football, opening a fresh chapter after his early career took him through clubs in Greece.
The transfer was completed on 26 August 2026, with Cartagena securing the defender on a deal that runs for the next two seasons.
For Lamptey-Mills, the move represents an opportunity to establish himself in Spain and accelerate his development at a club preparing for another campaign in the country’s third tier.
Cartagena, meanwhile, have added a youthful defensive profile to their squad, with the Ghanaian-American now officially beginning his Spanish adventure under contract until June 2028.
