Ghana goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has emerged as a sought-after figure in the transfer market, with clubs from Europe, South America and Saudi Arabia exploring the possibility of signing the veteran shot-stopper, according to Footy-Africa.
The 34-year-old has seen his reputation soar following an impressive showing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, prompting his representatives to step up efforts to find him a new challenge abroad before the transfer window closes.
German outfit Hertha BSC, Brazilian club Fortaleza and Swedish side Vasteras are among those understood to have registered an interest in the Hearts of Oak goalkeeper. At this stage, however, none of the interested parties has submitted a formal offer.
Asare’s stock has risen considerably after he transformed himself from Ghana’s second-choice goalkeeper into one of the standout performers of the Black Stars’ World Cup campaign.
Initially behind the pecking order, the experienced goalkeeper was handed his opportunity on the global stage and made three appearances during the tournament. He responded with two clean sheets, shutting out both Panama and England.
His display against England was particularly eye-catching, with Asare producing a commanding performance to keep the European giants at bay and underline his credentials at the highest level.
His performances also earned him recognition among the ten best-performing goalkeepers at the tournament, further enhancing his appeal to clubs searching for an experienced and dependable presence between the posts.
Interest has not been limited to Europe and South America. Clubs in Saudi Arabia have also made contact regarding a potential deal, although Asare and his representatives are understood to favour a move to Europe.
Any transfer will have to involve Hearts of Oak, with Asare still contracted to the Ghanaian giants until 2027. The goalkeeper extended his stay with the Phobians in 2025, with his current agreement also containing an option to add another year.
With his World Cup performances significantly raising his profile, Asare could now be on the verge of securing the overseas move that would represent another major chapter in his career.
