Iraqi outfit Aletsalat SC have bolstered their ranks with the acquisition of Ghanaian duo Seidu Suraj and Kofi Agbesimah as preparations intensify for the forthcoming campaign.
The arrivals of the two accomplished Ghana Premier League stars underline the club’s ambition to assemble a competitive squad, with both players already settling into life in Iraq after linking up with their new teammates in training.
Suraj makes the move from Dreams FC, where he earned widespread admiration for his tireless work rate, technical quality and versatility in midfield. Equally effective in shielding the defence and driving attacks forward, he developed into one of the club’s most influential performers.
The dynamic midfielder was instrumental in Dreams FC’s recent rise, helping the Still Believe lads challenge strongly on the domestic front while also playing a significant role in their remarkable CAF Confederation Cup adventure, which ended with a historic semi-final appearance.
Joining him at Aletsalat SC is commanding central defender Kofi Agbesimah, who departs FC Samartex after establishing himself as one of the Ghana Premier League’s standout defenders.
Agbesimah was a cornerstone of the Samartex side that etched its name into Ghanaian football history by lifting the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League title—the club’s maiden top-flight championship. His commanding presence, aerial dominance, composure in possession, and natural leadership made him a vital figure at the heart of the defence.
Prior to his successful spell with Samartex, the centre-back represented several clubs across Ghana, steadily building a reputation as a dependable and consistent performer in the domestic game.
The move to Iraq marks a fresh chapter for both Suraj and Agbesimah as they embark on a new adventure outside Ghana, eager to make their mark while further showcasing the country’s rich footballing talent on the international stage.
