Swansea City are on the verge of unveiling Ghana international Joseph Opoku after the exciting winger completed his medical and signed a long-term contract with the Championship outfit, according to Footy-Africa.
The 20-year-old has finalized all contractual formalities during Swansea’s pre-season training camp in Austria, where he is expected to immediately join up with the squad once the transfer is officially confirmed. The club is anticipated to announce the deal on Thursday.
Opoku has committed his future to the Welsh club by signing a four-year contract, with Swansea retaining the option to extend the agreement by an additional 12 months.
Swansea fended off strong competition from across Europe to secure Opoku’s signature, with Hull City, Genoa, Trabzonspor, Krasnodar and Real Sociedad all expressing serious interest before the winger opted for a move to South Wales.
The transfer comes on the back of a sensational 2025/26 campaign in Belgium, where Opoku established himself as one of the Pro League’s standout performers. He finished the season with 10 goals and 16 assists for Zulte Waregem, while his impressive displays earned him the Belgian Pro League Player of the Month award for April.
Having begun his career with Ghanaian side Great Corinthians FC, Opoku now takes another significant step in his European journey as he prepares for life in English football.
His arrival is expected to make him Swansea City’s fifth addition of the summer transfer window, with head coach VÃtor Matos continuing to reshape his squad ahead of the 2026/27 Championship campaign.
