Swiss Challenge League outfit FC Aarau have officially activated a one-year contract extension clause for Ghanaian centre-back David Acquah, ensuring he remains at the club until June 30, 2027.
The 24-year-old defender, who arrived from Israel just over two years ago, has grown into one of Aarau’s most dependable performers.
What began as a steady integration into the squad has evolved into a commanding presence at the heart of the defence, particularly during the 2024/25 campaign where he cemented his role as a regular starter.
Acquah’s style of play, defined by strength in duels, composure under pressure, and a no-nonsense approach to defending, has made him a vital component of the team’s backline. His influence extends beyond individual performances, providing structure and assurance to the defensive unit.

Consistency has been a hallmark of his time in Switzerland. Since joining Aarau, Acquah has featured in 68 matches, underlining both his durability and importance to the squad. In the current season, he has been ever-present, missing only a single competitive fixture due to suspension after accumulating a yellow card.
The decision to trigger the extension reflects the club’s firm belief in Acquah’s value, as well as their desire to maintain stability in defence while pushing for strong results in the Swiss Challenge League.
