Birmingham City head coach Chris Davies has spoken glowingly about Ibrahim Osman after the Ghanaian attacker delivered an eye-catching debut performance in the Blues’ 1-1 draw with Stoke City on Sunday.
Thrown straight into the action just days after completing a loan move from Brighton & Hove Albion, Osman wasted little time announcing himself at St Andrew’s. The 21-year-old featured for 56 minutes and brought urgency and incision to Birmingham’s attack, repeatedly unsettling Stoke’s backline with his speed and fearless approach.
Davies was particularly impressed by the forward’s ability to adapt so quickly despite his limited time with the squad.
“I thought Osman showed his pace, that is his key strength, key asset. He showed his pace and direction,” said Davies to the press.
Osman’s display was part of a broader encouraging trend for Birmingham, with the manager also praising the immediate contributions of other January additions.

Davies believes the new faces have added much-needed balance and depth as the club looks to push strongly through the second half of the season.
“(Jhon) Solis showed his physical in midfield, that is his key strength and (August Flyger) Priske showed what a handful he is as a 9 so they are players who really want to make an impact and I think they have definitely improved our squad definitely,” he added.
For Osman, the outing marked another important step in his development. The Right to Dream Academy product spent the opening months of the campaign on loan at French side Auxerre before returning to England in January. Since sealing his move from Danish club Nordsjaelland in 2024, the winger is still awaiting his first competitive appearance for Brighton.
However, if his debut in blue is anything to go by, Birmingham City fans may be set for plenty of excitement as Osman looks to make his mark during his loan spell.
