Ghanaian centre-back Maxwell Woledzi has taken his first steps in Major League Soccer after making his unofficial debut for Nashville SC in a pre-season friendly against Chicago Fire.

The former Ghana youth international, who recently completed his move to the United States, joined Nashville’s training camp last week and quickly integrated into the squad’s preparations for the upcoming MLS campaign.

After opening their pre-season in Tennessee, Nashville relocated to Florida for an intensive training phase and a run of warm-up matches, with Woledzi earning a start in the clash against Chicago Fire.

He featured in the opening period before Nashville rotated the entire lineup midway through the first half, at a time when the club was already trailing by two goals. Chicago Fire eventually ran out 4-1 winners.

Despite the result, Woledzi is said to be embracing the challenge ahead as he gears up for his first full MLS season following his switch from Norwegian outfit Fredrikstad.

The versatile defender will fill one of Nashville’s international roster slots heading into the 2026 campaign. Prior to his MLS move, the Right to Dream Academy product built experience across Europe, turning out for FC Nordsjaelland, Vitória Guimarães and Fredrikstad.
