Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has expressed strong satisfaction with his team’s display despite being held to a goalless draw by Bibiani Gold Stars in the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors made the trip to Duns Park on Saturday, January 17, to face the reigning champions in their Matchday 19 encounter of the 2025/26 season. In what proved to be a fiercely contested affair, Kotoko thought they had snatched victory late on, only for a last-gasp goal to be ruled out, forcing both sides to settle for a share of the points.

While the scoreline ended level, Zito was upbeat in his post-match assessment, insisting the performance reflected clear tactical growth from his side. The Kotoko trainer highlighted the contrast between this outing and their earlier showing at home, pointing to improved structure, discipline, and execution.

“Tactically, we came in with a game plan, and the game plan worked to perfection. If you look at how we played today and the way we played in Kumasi, there is a lot of difference in today’s game, and I’m very satisfied with the way the boys played today,” Karim Zito said.

The result sees Kotoko maintain fourth place on the league standings with 32 points, though they remain eight points adrift of pace-setters Medeama SC as the title race begins to take shape.

Attention now shifts to Matchday 20, where the Kumasi giants will aim to build on this resilient display when they come up against Basake Holy Stars in their next league assignment.
