Asante Kotoko are still yet to receive the transfer fee from Albert Amoah’s high-profile switch to Libyan outfit Al Ahly Benghazi, according to the club’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku.

Amoah made the move a month ago in a deal estimated to exceed $200,000. The former Kotoko forward reportedly earned a lucrative $200,000 signing-on bonus and is set to take home $20,000 in his first season, with his salary projected to climb to $25,000 in the next campaign.

Despite the transfer being finalized, Duku disclosed that Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee chairman, Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua, has been in continuous discussions with the Libyan side to ensure the outstanding payment is honoured.

“I wouldn’t want to go deeply, but all that I can say is that Kotoko has a transfer agreement with Ali Benghazi in respect of a former striker, Albert Amoah,” Duku stated.

He explained that the delay has not raised alarm within the club, as communication between both parties remains active:

“Even though the transfer agreed amount is yet to hit the accounts of Kotoko, I can confirm to you that the IMC chairman is in constant touch with officials of Ali Benghazi, obviously the amount will be in.”

Duku refrained from unveiling specific details surrounding the contract but maintained that the situation is under control:

“I can’t go into the merits of the agreement because of some contractual issues. Trust me, as both clubs are governed by the rules of the game, I do not think that anything can happen,” he added.
