Sunderland produced one of their most spirited performances of the season on Saturday, rallying from two goals down to stun AFC Bournemouth in a gripping Premier League encounter at the Stadium of Light, with Brian Brobbey stepping off the bench to grab the decisive moment of brilliance.

The Dutch forward of Ghanaian heritage, who arrived in the summer, was introduced in the 63rd minute for Wilson Isidor. In just six minutes, he rewarded his manager’s faith. Showing sharp instinct and composure, Brobbey pounced in the 69th minute to seal an extraordinary comeback and send the home crowd into a frenzy.

Bournemouth had looked firmly in control early on. Amine Adli struck in the 7th minute, and Tyler Adams doubled the advantage eight minutes later, putting the Cherries in a commanding position. Sunderland, however, found a lifeline midway through the first half when Enzo Le Fée calmly slotted home from the spot, reigniting belief in the hosts.

That belief exploded straight after the restart. Burkina Faso winger Bertrand Traoré restored parity just a minute into the second half, finishing off a flowing move as Sunderland surged forward with renewed purpose.

With momentum firmly on their side, the Black Cats pushed for a winner, and Brobbey delivered. His well-timed finish capped off a remarkable response from a Sunderland side that refused to wilt under pressure.

The victory adds to Brobbey’s growing influence since his arrival; the 23-year-old has now tallied two goals and an assist across eight Premier League matches.

On the opposite end, Ghana international Antoine Semenyo, enjoying a positive run of form for Bournemouth, featured throughout the match but was unable to prevent his side’s collapse.

Sunderland’s comeback will undoubtedly stand as one of their defining moments of the campaign, with Brobbey emerging as the undeniable hero of the day.
