Asante Kotoko captain Samba O’Neil has issued a heartfelt apology to the club’s supporters following their painful exit from the CAF Confederation Cup, vowing that the team will bounce back stronger in domestic competitions.
The Porcupine Warriors’ continental journey came to an abrupt end after a heavy 6–1 aggregate defeat to Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club. Kotoko’s ambitions were dented early with a narrow 1–0 home loss at the Accra Sports Stadium before a humbling 5–1 defeat in Casablanca sealed their fate in the second preliminary round.

In the aftermath of the elimination, the Congolese skipper stepped forward to address the fans, expressing regret for the team’s underwhelming showing while rallying his teammates to refocus on local silverware.
“It is difficult to take, but we apologize to our fans,” O’Neil admitted. “We need to keep our heads up and win both the league and the FA Cup to compensate for this loss.”
With continental dreams now over, Asante Kotoko are turning their full attention to the Ghana Premier League campaign and the FA Cup, where they aim to redeem their pride and reward their loyal supporters with domestic success.
