Antoine Semenyo’s blistering start to the Premier League campaign rolled on at Elland Road, where the Ghanaian forward’s thunderous free-kick helped Bournemouth snatch a 2-2 draw against Leeds United.

The 22,000 inside the stadium had barely settled when Semenyo announced himself midway through the first half. Lining up a set-piece from 25 yards, he drilled his effort low and true, punching through the Leeds wall before Karl Darlow could react. It was the striker’s fourth goal of the season, and with two assists already on his tally, he has now been directly involved in six of Bournemouth’s league strikes under Andoni Iraola.

Leeds, however, are rarely cowed at home. Joe Rodon’s towering header from a Sean Longstaff corner brought them level before the interval. The Welshman’s celebration lit up the Kop end, and moments after the restart, Longstaff turned scorer with a beautifully cushioned half-volley that whistled into the far corner.

For long stretches, it looked like that strike would settle matters. Leeds pressed with intent, while Bournemouth were forced to weather periods of pressure. Yet the Cherries never completely folded, and their persistence paid off in stoppage time. Defender Marcos Senesi glanced on a late free-kick, and substitute Eli Junior Kroupi arrived at the back post to lash home the equaliser, sparking wild celebrations in the away end.

Semenyo, who lasted the full 90 minutes, continues to underline why Bournemouth tied him down to a lengthy contract earlier this year. After last season’s 13-goal haul and heavy speculation linking him to Manchester United and Tottenham, his current form only intensifies questions about whether the south-coast club can realistically keep hold of him until 2030.

Bournemouth turn their attention to a home clash with Fulham on October 3, while Leeds are left to rue what might have been after letting victory slip so late.
