13 months on, Liberty’s Carl Reindorf Park license REVOKED for the second time

Liberty Professionals have entered the bad books of the GFA Club Licensing Board (CLB) due to the poor state of their home grounds – for the second time.

The playing surface of the Carl Reindorf Park has been a subject of complaints from rivals clubs as well as fans and was highlighted further via live TV when Hearts of Oak came visiting on match-day 16 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.

In the abrogated 2019/20 season, Liberty fell foul of the CLB regulations and had the conditional license awarded them for the use of the Carl Reindorf Park revoked on January 20, 2020 until they rectified some infrastructural challenges at the grounds.

Coincidentally, it was after hosting the same Hearts of Oak they faced in midweek – a game which was decided by Isaac Mensah’s second-half strike.

And 13 months, 7 days down the line, the Scientific Soccer lads have been sanctioned again.

“Liberty Professional FC is the first club to have its Match Venue License revoked as the Club Licensing Department began the spot–check inspection on Wednesday, February 24, 2021,” a portion of a GFA update Friday read.
