GPL: Carl Reindorf Park license REVOKED, Liberty asked to choose new home

Liberty Professionals’ license to use the Carl Reindorf Park as home grounds for the 2019/20 football season has been revoked with immediate effect, Footy-Ghana.com can report.

The Dansoman-based side was among clubs that were handed conditional permits for their chosen home grounds by the Dr. Kwame Baah-Nuakoh-led GFA Club Licensing Board (CLB) prior to the start of the Ghana Premier League in December.

Liberty Professionals, in particular, were asked to rectify infrastructural challenges at Carl Reindorf Park.

“The surrounding of the stadium needed to be weeded and cleaning done before 10th January,” part of the revocation letter to Liberty stated.

But it has emerged the club paid no heed to the CLB’s advice after a follow-up inspection was carried out on Monday.

“In view of the foregoing, the Club Licensing Board at its meeting on Monday, January 20, 2020, has decided to revoke your license for the use of the Carl Reindorf Park with immediate effect,” the letter added.

Liberty Professionals have also been also directed to inform the Competitions Department of the GFA their choice of an alternative venue from the list of already approved Premier League match centres. But the club can reapply for the use of the Carl Reindorf Park once they rectify the infrastructural challenges which were detected by the CLB.

On Sunday, spectators, who thronged the Carl Reindorf Park for the match-day 5 league encounter between Liberty Professionals and Hearts of Oak, raised alarm about their safety after they were forced to kill snakes at the grounds.
