James Akaminko signs two-year contract extension with Azam FC

Ghana international James Akaminko has extended his contract at Azam FC for an additional two years.

The 27-year-old combative midfielder signed an initial two-year contract with the Tanzania Premier League outfit in July 2022 after leaving Ghana’s Great Olympics on a free transfer. The deal was set to expire in 2024.

However, following a productive debut campaign in which big boys Simba SC indicated an interest in signing the Akaminko, Azam moved fast to prolong their starman’s stay with better terms in a new contract.

On Thursday, June 22, 2023, the club formally announced the extension.

“Midfielder, James Akaminko, has extended a new two-year contract to remain in our club. Thus, he is still very much present in the outskirts of Azam Complex until the year 2026,” a club statement read.

James Akaminko was a member of the Black Galaxies side that won silver in the 2019 Wafu Cup in Senegal. He has previously played for Tema Youth, Medeama SC, AshantiGold, and Tunisian side US Tataouine.
