Beşiktaş ‘in talks’ with Amartey over summer transfer – reports

Ghanaian international Daniel Amartey is reportedly in negotiations with Turkish club Beşiktaş about a potential summer transfer.

Along with Jamie Vardy and Marc Albrighton, the versatile defender is one of three players from Leicester City’s 2016 Premier League title-winning squad still on the books at the club.

Amartey – whose contract expires this summer – appears to be on his way out of the King Power Stadium now that the Foxes have suffered relegation to the Championship.

Recently, the 28-year-old was rumoured to be moving to AC Milan in an unexpected transfer, but it now appears that a move to Turkey may be in the works.

According to Sports Digitale, Amartey is in discussions with Beşiktaş about a free agent move. The club is claimed to have enquired about the Black Stars deputy captain through Leicester colleague and Turkish international Caglar Soyuncu.

Daniel Amartey made 24 appearances for Leicester City in all competitions in the just-ended 2022/23 season but did not feature once under interim boss Dean Smith. His last minutes in a Leicester shirt came against Bournemouth in a 1-0 home defeat.
